Thank you to everyone who has contributed:

We would like to thank and acknowledge the following individuals without whom this site would not be possible.  It is only through the generous contribution of materials and information sharing with family members that this site is available for all of us to learn about our heritage.  We hope everyone in our related families will join the below people in assisting us to gather information so that the entire family may enjoy it.  We encourage everyone to send us any pictures, documents or other items of interest so that everyone can freely enjoy them.  Thanks!

A special thank you and love to:

  • Don and Betty Kraft - Thank you for the wealth of information, photos, documents and insight for the Kraft, Jibson, Benawa, Sicard, Stafford, Martin, Flatt, and Harley families.  This site would not be possible without you and all the countless questions you answered for years.  It is because of the two of you, we began this journey. Thank you also for all your memories of Gainesboro, Jackson County, Tennessee; Ravenna, Muskegon County, Michigan; Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; and Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Tammy Stafford Bellflower - the first Stafford relative I found online at a website she used to have.  She provided me with a wealth of information on the more recent generations of Stafford 's as well as unbelievable family pictures that will forever be treasured.  Tammy knows everyone, just ask anybody.  Thanks for all the stories of growing up in Gainesboro, TN and of your wonderful Grandparents.  Thank you Tammy!  I love you and think of you all the time!
  • Beverly Stafford Laursen - Another wonderful Stafford cousin (I met through who else... Tammy, of course).  Bev also gave me a lot of pictures, information and insight into the Stafford family.  Her personality reminds me of my Mom's.  I just love you Bev!  Thanks.
  • Jennifer Stafford Norvell - You guessed it, another Stafford cousin.  Jen is a very special young lady who has such enthusiasm for genealogy!  She can run circles around anyone.  I can't keep up with her that is for sure.  Jennifer has sent me pictures as well as information on the Stafford family.  Love ya Jen:)
  • Debbie Kraft Turford - We have the same name true, but we have far more than that in common.  We found each other on the Internet as well and trust me when I say, it was no coincidence.   Debbie is a cousin, a friend and my sister who I cherish with all my heart.  She is a perpetual "ball of fire" (watch out Jerry Lee).   She spent nearly every day of her lunch hour in the Summer 2004, at the Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, library copying everything she could get her hands on!  She went all over the town of Kitchener photographing places and headstones of Kraft family members.  She has invested so much of her time, money, love, and support to gather information on our family.  She does this because she cares so deeply about our heritage.  The material she has contributed is invaluable.  Few families are so fortunate to have a library and University filled with so much family history.  Few families have someone like Debbie who would literally go without eating to gather all the wonderful information that she has.  I hope everyone will think of her when they view the wealth of documents she has contributed.  Scott and I just think the world of you and Brian.  All our love to you both.
  • John and Dottie Kraft - Thank you so much for all the pictures, documents, family history, memories and insight on the Kraft, Jibson, Sicard and Benawa families.  We had never seen the majority of pictures you provided.  They are so wonderful.  Thanks also for your encouragement and interest especially with respect to the historical aspects of the family.  It has been a joyous experience getting to know you better.  Thank you for all your encouragement as well.  All our love to you both.
  • Gloria Jibson Mann - What a woman!  Gloria has a heart of gold and has provided, pictures, documents, and so much first-hand information regarding the Jibson family of Hive, England and Michigan, I don't know if I will ever be able to record it all.  Thank you so much for everything Gloria, especially your friendship.  I met Gloria online and I am so glad I did.  She is the first cousin of Debbie's Grandmother, Pansy Jibson Kraft.  She has enriched my life beyond measure.  She brings a smile to my face each and every day.  I think it goes without saying, how much I love you Gloria.  You are truly a jewel!  Of course, sometimes Gloria might get me confused with her friend from Arkansas LOL!!!
  • Ethelyn Joyce (Thompson) Anderson - Another Jibson cousin I met online.  Ethelyn's Maternal Grandmother, was a Jibson.  Ethelyn and her mother, Joyce (Elsworth) Thompson provided much of the information on the Robert Jibson/Ann Buttle line of Jibson's in David Jibson's family file.  Ethelyn is so sweet and very talented.  She has become a very dear friend who I love very much.  She is always doing everything for everyone else.  She has a beautiful spirit.  I love you Ethelyn even when you think (like Gloria), I sound like a "southerener".  I can't help it, it's my "Southern Roots" coming out!  Hugs and kisses!
  • David Kent Jibson - David was the first Jibson I found online and it was through David that I met Gloria and Ethelyn.  David has a wonderful Jibson Family Web Site (he designed himself) that I would encourage everyone to visit.  It is filled with rich historical information on the Jibson's as well as pictures, documents and a host of other items pertaining to the Jibson Family.  I think everyone will find his site simply fascinating.  David is such an interesting person and very knowledgeable about almost any subject.  He is extremely talented and gifted.  I consider David to be the "Jibson Family Historian".   He is one of the most interesting persons I know and I love to correspond with him.  He has provided so much information (including his file on the Jibson's which we integrated with ours); an array of historical information (I just love); and much insight into the family.  I just think the world of you David.  Thank you for everything.  I love you cousin.  Also, thanks to Mary Lou Moll for sharing all her information.  Be sure to visit David's Spinning and Yarn Online Store; it's great!!!
  • Bob Flatt - contributed his Family Tree database on the Flatt (aka Van Der Vliet) Family which is a combination of his data and that furnished to him by Mack Flatt.  It was a true find to see the Stafford 's, Martin's, Harley's and Flatt's marrying causing us to be related in more ways than just siblings.
  • Terry Flatt contributed his Family Tree database on the Flatt (aka Van Der Vliet) Family which was merged with Bob and Mack's file to provide invaluable additional data.  Terry contacted us after learning of our research through cousins on our Martin side that he attends church with in Tennessee . Thanks Terry!  NOTE:  We pretty much have started from scratch on the Flatt family because so much of the information was unsourced.
  • James and Laura Poston Bailey - Thank you for all the information and pictures on the Martin, Harley, Poston, and Bailey families as well as your first-hand knowledge of the Stafford family in Jackson County, Tennessee.  Thank you for going with us to the Stafford and Pharris cemeteries in Jackson County, Tennessee and helping us identify gravesites of our ancestors; especially our Grandpa James Martin who is buried in the Stafford Cemetery in Jackson County, TN.  Thank you for all you generosity while staying with you in your home.  It was the search for our Grandfather Lora that first got me started in genealogy.  I am so thankful to your Momma (my Aunt), Annie Mai for telling you so many things about the family.  Thank you for always making me some Polk Sallett.
  • Bob Younger - Thank you for the invaluable information on the Younger and Cooper families in Missouri and Kansas.  Thanks for all the information about Galena and Baxter Springs, Kansas in Cherokee County.
  • Marge Croft - Thank you for all the information on the Taylor, Thompson, and Getman families from England and Germany who found their way to Cherokee County, Kansas.
  • Linda Kraft - Thank you for all your love and support on this project. Thanks for helping look up information.
  • Aaron and Thelma Kraft- In loving memory to Great Uncle Aaron and his lovely wife, Great Aunt Thelma who are no longer with us.  Thank you for leaving a legacy of research from April, 1983 tracing the Kraft family back to the 1800's.  This information certainly was a great starting point to begin researching our Kraft and Benawa families.
  • Louis and Louise Kraft - Thank you for taking time to identify people in old photographs for us.  We appreciate all your help!
  • Dene Sutton - Thank you Dene for sharing all the wonderful Flatt Family Photographs, obituaries, and your first-hand knowledge of the Flatt's.  We appreciate so much all your help and information.
  • PSkipper49@aol.com for all the Flatt Family Photographs and information.  Thank you for your kindness and wealth of information.
  • Jim Hook - Thanks so much Jim for all the wonderful Kansas property records on John Kraft and wife Angeline Hermance Kraft as well as all the other documentation you have provided.  You are absolutely one of the most wonderful people in the world.  Besides that, we share that same deep love for our children!
  • Sharon Danek - Thank you for all the information you have shared with us on your branch of the Kraft Family Tree.   You are such a wonderful person with such a good heart!!!
  • Linda Crumback - Thanks so much for the pictures and additional information on the Benawa family in Kent County, MI and Omaha, Nebraska.
  • Thank you to everyone who has contributed.   If we have forgotten anyone, please let us know.  We will of course continue to add to this list as each day as we meet new relatives who contribute materials to us.  To all of you, none of this would be possible without you.

Although we have more than 1,600 different surnames on our genealogy site, Family Thread.com; they derive from our primary family history lines of Kraft, Benawa, Jibson, Younger, Sicard, Thompson, Martin, Stafford, Harley, Flatt and Getman Family primary surnames.

The primary geographical locations for the Kraft family is Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany; Waterloo, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; Kent County, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Younger Family gang originated in Glasgow, Scotland, migrating to Maryland and Virginia and then on to North Carolina; Kentucky, Missouri and Kansas.   The Jibson family is from Hive, Yorkshire, England with one member migrating to Michigan and another to Ontario, Canada.  The Taylor family originated in Northumberland, England migrating to the Mineral, Cherokee County, Kansas during the great mining boom.

Our Stafford line has been in the United States before it was a nation during Colonial times migrating from Virginia, North Carolina and Gainesboro, Jackson County, Tennessee where our Martin, Harley and Flatt family lines once lived as well (many are still in the Cumberland River area in Middle Tennessee).
